For
engineers interested in air conditioning, heat pumps, and refrigeration
systems, this class will provide a description of available modeling
tools for simulating and designing such systems. Certain components
will be described in detail (e.g., throttling devices, compressors,
suction line heat exchangers), and some system-level issues will
also be presented (e.g., fixed charge vs. open systems with fixed
pressure/temperature points). The class consists of presentations
with brief examples based in FloCAD and SinAPS.
Prerequisites: Basic
understanding of VC cycles and components, and of FLUINT
