Technologies Announces Version 4.8 Product Releases

C&R Technologies,
Inc. announced all new product releases for their tool suite;
Version 4.8 installers are now available. This includes new releases
of SINDA/FLUINT, SinapsPlus®, Thermal Desktop®,
RadCAD® and FloCAD®. "C&R
is very excited about the new features that have been introduced
in this 4.8 version." says Cindy Beer, director of Marketing
and Sales, "As always, we are being as responsive to our
customers' needs as technically possible, and adding features
that both make existing modeling tasks easier and open new areas
of modeling capabilities. Our customers should find this new
version a welcome upgrade."
Customers under
current support contracts may download the updated versions for
free however they will need to contact
our support department for new license files. Customers who
no longer are under current support contracts must contact
our sales department to upgrade to the newer versions.
SINDA/FLUINT expansions
include but are not limited to:
- Extensive
PUMP expansions accounting for:
- Cavitation
detection and modeling
- Inefficiency,
with associated calculation of hydraulic torque and outlet
heating effects
- Nonideal
head-flow rate maps for handling (for example) failure
of the similarity rules at low and high speeds, and the
import of maps from pump design software
- Optional
use of flow coefficient and head coefficient instead
of volumetric flow
rates and heads
- Rotating
Paths - Previously, FLUINT paths could be optionally spun about
an axis, causing an additional pressure force and having an
effect on two-phase flow regimes. These options have been expanded
to include:
- Axial
components of velocity, allowing rotating paths to flow
radially, axially, or in a mixed mode.
- Hydraulic
torque and energy terms associated with rotation, including
heating and shaft power effects appropriate for higher
rotation speeds.
- Relative
wall motions: flow between a rotating wall and a stationary
wall, permitting violation of the solid body rotation
assumption that was previously implicit
- New solver
connectivity and sensitivity checker
- New routine
TOTALTP to calculate the current total (stagnation) temperature
and pressure for a particular lump/path pair
- New heat
transfer correlations for flow between Rotating and stationary
disks
- Expanded
TABULAR connector options to be more applicable to compressible
flows and dynamic seals
- New: FWDBCK
(“Transient”) iterative thermal energy imbalance
correction
- New choked
flow tabulation routine

Thermal
Desktop product expansions include but are not limited
to:
- AutoCAD
2006 compatability
- Improvements
to the NASTRAN and ANSYS importers
- Default
options have been setup for all Thermal Desktop objects
- Contactor
restarts have been added to speed up the calculation of contactors
when the geometry or input has not changed.
- RADK calculations
and output have been modified to use less memory, which results
in larger models being run. RADK jobs can be approximately
30% larger in size.
- FloCAD pump
input forms have been expanded to include several new input
data options including full maps. Optional use of flow coefficient
and head coefficient instead of volumetric flow rates and heads.
Additional unit types are also supported. Flow area input is
supported.
