What
do I need?
- Computer:
You will need a PC compatible computer conforming
with specified system
requirements.
- Software:
You will need SINDA/FLUINT, the underlying solution
engine for SinapsPlus, up and running on
your computer. See Thermal
and Fluid Analysis: Getting Started with SINDA/FLUINT
for information on getting SINDA/FLUINT downloaded
and installed. You will also need to download the
latest version of Sinaps from the download
page. If you are interested in the 30-day demo
version, please download from the demo
web page.
- License:
You will need a current Sinaps user
license (SINAPS.lic). If you downloaded the 30-day
demo version, a demo license was emailed to you. To purchase a license, please
contact C&R Technologies.
How
do I install Sinaps?
- Installing
Sinaps:
To install the software, you must have Admin privileges.
Simply double-click on the installation file to
begin the installation process. Follow instructions
in the installer to complete the installation.
If you are working on a network you will probably
need to contact your system administrator.
How
do I install the license file?
- Acquiring
the license file:
If you downloaded the PC-based 30-day demo, you
should have received an email containing the license
information. If you purchased a
PC version, you should have received a license file
from a sales representative.
- If
you need a license file for the PC, please run
the Licenser Manager Utility under Start>Programs>SinapsFluint>License
Manager. Click "Request License File",
fill out the subsequent forms, and email or
fax the information per the instructions.
- Installing
the license file: If you have been provided a license pack (*.lpk file) or have a license pack from the email
response for the 30-day demo download, simply double click on the *.lpk file and the files will automatically install in the proper locations. If you have received a license file (sinaps.lic) from C&R Technologies
simply place it in the Sinaps install directory (typically c:/program files/crtech/sinaps/).
Running
Sinaps
- Verify
installation:
To verify the installation of Sinaps and your license file, we recommended you open the application. Using the start menu on
a PC, select Start>Programs>Sinaps>Sinaps. If you receive an error message regarding
licenses, run the Licence Manager, click on license
report and submit results to CRTech support. The installation of SINDA/FLUINT can be verified by running a sample problem.
- Running Sinaps: After opening Sinaps, use the file menu system to open a file (select File>Open). Browse to the sample folder directory located in the Sinaps install directory, C:\Program Files\CRtech\Sinaps. Open the ballon directory and double click on the file balloon.xml.smdl. This will open the model in Sinaps. Use the menu to select View>Case Manager. On the Case Manager tab, click the "Run" button to launch SINDA/FLUINT. At the completion
of the run a window will appear stating "Successful
completion of processor". If the
run terminates in errors, you may have problems
associated with the installation. Please take note
of the error message received and contact CRTech
support.
I
have successfully installed Sinaps and the license,
what next?
- User's
Manual: When you installed Sinaps,
the User's Manual was automatically installed. You can access it through
the start menu under Start>Programs>Sinaps>Sinaps Help
(or Sinaps Help Pdf File). This manual only details usage of the graphical
interface in Sinaps and basic SINDA/FLUINT usage. We recommend
that you also review the SINDA/FLUINT User's Manual,
accessible through the start menu Start>Programs>SindaFluint>Sinda
help, which contains important information on program
structure, available modeling objects, subroutines
available to the user, modeling methods, and much
more. We highly recommend that you take some time
to review the SINDA/FLUINT manual, especially sections
1, 2, and 4 prior to using Sinaps.
- Tutorials:
The Sinaps help file contains tutorials in the last chapter .
These tutorials will walk you through sample problems
with guidance for making various modeling decisions.
We recommend all new users work through these tutorials
before starting a thermal or fluid analysis task
of their own.
- Sample
Problems:
In addition to the SINDA/FLUINT User's Manual we
offer an extensive "Sample Problem Appendix".
This document is installed with SINDA/FLUINT and is accessible through the start menu, Start>All Porgrams>SindaFluint>Sample Problem Doc. The Sample Problem Appendix
provides a wide assortment of sample problems with
detailed discussion of various thermal and fluid
analysis options and how best to make appropriate
modeling decisions. We recommend all users look through
these sample problems. Input decks associated with
each sample problem are installed in the "sample"
directory located in the SINDA/FLUINT installation
directory.
Training
Classes
- Training
Opportunities: We offer training classes for
all of our products. It is strongly recommended
that all new users attend one of our training classes.
The classes, although based on training notes available
for download, provide a significant amount of information
and instruction not included in the training notes.
For more information about the available training
classes please visit our Training
web page. We also offer custom
training.
- Mini
Topic Classes: C&R Technologies offers
a variety of short online topic based classes
which are free to the user. You review the class
listing and register for these classes
at our web site.
- Heat
Transfer Reference Books and Education:
Although the SINDA/FLUINT User's Manual is extensive,
it alone will not provide the necessary background
required for creating quality thermohydraulic
models. Creating a good model requires educated
assessments of how best to model a system to achieve
the desired results. This can only be achieved
with a strong background in the principles of
heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid
flow.
Installation
and User Support
- For
support we recommend you start with our Online
Knowledge Database. This forum based database
has search capabilities to help you find answers
to your questions. You can also post new topics
to get answers to your questions. If you are unable to obtain the appropriate help through the forum, contact our support group at support@crtech.com.
